Nottingham City, Nottingham North East, Nottingham West and Rushcliffe CCGs have appointed the leader on an interim basis.
Nottingham North East chief officer Sam Walters will take up the post in the autumn and will be responsible for overseeing the move to a single commissioning model for Greater Nottingham.
The move comes after commissioners recently awarded a £2.7m contract to Capita and Centene UK for support in establishing its ACS.
In June, Greater Nottingham was named as one of eight health systems to be supported by regulators to establish an ACS and will receive part of a £450m funding pot.
HSJ also recently reported that Nottingham City CCG had published a tender for its community services worth £205m.
The tender document said the successful bidder should form part of the Greater Nottingham ACS.
It is not clear when the CCGs intend to appoint a permanent accountable officer.
