New chief executive for finance investigation trust

Lewisham and Greenwich Trust in south-east London is due to announce today that Ben Travis will be its new chief executive.
Mr Travis comes to the role having led Oxleas Foundation Trust, which provides mental health and community services to outer south east London boroughs.
He replaces Tim Higginson who has been chief executive for 10 years and oversaw the trust’s takeover of Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Greenwich in 2013.
Rows over the second hospital’s private finance initiative deal and emergency department have caused significant difficulties for the new organisation and its commissioners.
Mr Higginson was well thought of but his departure coincided with an NHS Improvement investigation into the financial governance of the trust.
He is due to retire early next year.
