The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in St John’s Wood is truly unique. The Hospital, founded in 1856, is one of the country's largest independent charity hospitals.

Uniquely, all the Hospital’s profits fund their on-site Hospice – St John’s – which treats over 2000 terminally ill patients and their families every year for free.

With over 600 doctors and five fully equipped operating theatres, they can treat almost any illness on an inpatient and outpatient basis. 

In the past two years the Hospital has been transformed - establishing itself in the community and beyond as a cutting edge and innovative healthcare provider with five star treatment and service. Now the Hospital is looking for a Director of HR  and Organisational Development to help the organisation make even further strides forward.

Reporting into the Chief Executive and operating as a key member of the Hospital’s Management Board, an outstanding human resources and organisational improvement professional is now needed to develop, implement and lead a coherent and robust HR strategy which has a positive impact on day to day operations.

In this influential and varied position, you will be responsible for all people aspects across this ambitious business, including recruitment, employee development, establishment of organisational values, appraisals, performance management, reward, and operational HR. We are looking for a candidate with the energy and drive to develop our HR department and the ability to deliver clear thinking, change improvement, humour and resilience. The successful candidate must have the ability to deal with minor operational and important strategical tasks with the same drive.      

You will already have built an impressive track record, ideally with a complex customer focused organisation with a reputation for best practice in HR & OD. CIPD qualified, you will be a commercially driven, high-energy leader with a hands-on, operational focus and an emphasis on delivering clear measurable improvements. In person, you will be intelligent, tenacious and level headed.
