An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced capital accountant to join the financial reporting team at a leading NHS trust.

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the team is responsible for delivering monthly quarterly and annual financial accounts.  The emphasis for this role will be to ensure the highest professional standards in capital accounting.  Operating as the “go to” person for advice in this area, you will also ensure that the trust appropriately accounts for its fixed assets according to NHS, IFRS and any other relevant governing rules, that all entries are complete, accurate and made in the correct accounting period. The post holder will assist the Corporate Finance Manager in ensuring that the Trust’s Capital Programme is reported correctly.

You should be a qualified accountant, or equivalent, with an up to date understanding of the NHS financial regime.  Importantly, you will have a complete technical understanding of capital accounting and will be sufficiently confident in your knowledge to make the case for particular capital treatment when others may want to take other courses of action. In line with this, you will need excellent communication skills and, in particular, the ability to explain complex technical issues to others.

This position offers the chance to work in a professionally challenging and fast moving environment and will add weight to your CV.
