Business and Operational Manager (Theatres)
Dudley Group Foundation Trust provides acute and community services to a catchment population in excess of 400,000 patients. Situated in the heart of the Black Country, we offer a wide range of surgical, orthopaedic, gynaecological and obstetric elective and emergency services. In order for the Trust to continue to achieve its operational and corporate objectives and put a firm focus on performance improvement, we are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent leadership, business, workforce and communication skills to join our team to take up the role of Business and Operational Manager for Theatres
The new Business and Operational Manager will be an outstanding professional with the capability of leading the staff within the department (numbering some 200 individuals) through a demanding period of operational and financial performance improvement to meet the outputs of the Productive Operating Theatre agenda. The Trust runs 17 theatres; 16 of which are based at the main Russells Hall Hospital site. The successful candidate will manage a budget of around £7million.
Reporting to the General Manager for Surgery and Orthopaedics, you will be responsible for delivering managerial leadership of your Department, delivering a range of outcomes, ensuring that fundamental and underlying activities to organisational success are achieved through the day-to-day operational management of the Theatre workforce. You will work closely with a diverse range of staff including Administration, Nursing, Finance, HR, Estates and Information.
The key output for this role is to ensure the smooth running of the Theatres in a cost effective and efficient manner. This will primarily be done through a mixture of excellent operational and business acumen, but even more so by developing the staff into a responsive, trained, skilled, professional, flexible and motivated workforce.
Although this role will involve the management of nurses, a nursing background is not essential for the delivery of this role. Experience of senior management within a Healthcare setting is, however, highly desirable.
