Further information

Derby City Public Health Directorate is a developing and forward-looking team with ambitions to significantly improve the health and wellbeing of our city’s population through innovative and integrated working. We are committed to continuous improvement and development, both at an individual and organisational level.

If you are a Public Health Consultant who wants to drive change, shape decisions and improve outcomes while developing your skills and public health career, then these posts offer you an excellent opportunity. If you have a strong track record in delivering change, like to adopt an innovative approach and want to be part of a transformational team making a real impact on health and wellbeing, then we would like to hear from you.

The Directorate of Public Health at NHS Derby City is seeking up to two Consultants in Public Health. Whilst the role(s) will have leadership responsibilities across the range of public health functions, you will take the lead responsibility for a specific area, for example, one of the roles will lead on the children and young people agenda. Derby is a thriving, culturally diverse city in the East Midlands with much to offer to those who live and work here. The city also faces considerable public health challenges. Your role will be to help improve poor health outcomes especially in those communities with high levels of socio-economic deprivation.

These posts are at a senior level within the Public Health Directorate, being key members of its senior management team. This will require you to deputise for the Joint Director of Public Health as required and to play a pivotal role in leading the Directorate through transition and shaping its long-term future in the new public health system.
