University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of general and some specialist healthcare services to a population of 365,000 across much of Cumbria and Lancashire. Employing over 4,000 staff and with a turnover in excess of £250 million, we operate from three main hospital sites in Barrow, Kendal and Lancaster, and from two out-patient centres. Having achieved the signifi cant milestone of Foundation Trust status in 2010, and following very difficult recent times, the Trust is now seeking an experienced individual to unlock our potential so that we can meet our objectives to deliver excellent healthcare that is driven by patients’ needs.
This is the opportunity to join us when the momentum for change has been created and as some important initial steps are being taken. With the active support of our staff, commissioners and other external stakeholders, we have started reshaping our services and have introduced a new clinically-led divisional structure. But there is still much to be done: developing our strategic plans with our newly-formed board, providing staff and our external stakeholders with a sense of purpose and direction, and developing our clinical leaders.
An inspirational and visible leadership style is required, as is the courage to drive change and achieve improvements in an era of fi nancial constraint. With a strong track record at board level within the NHS as well as acute sector experience, you will be able to develop and - crucially - implement strategy by evaluating the evolving needs of our patients and creating partnerships which best serve their interests. A pace-setter with strong commercial acumen, you will demonstrate a passion for improving patient care through quality as well as the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
