Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest hospital trusts in England, delivering services from two general hospitals in thriving Gloucester and beautiful regency Cheltenham. Like many NHS Trusts we face significant challenges, including those arising from last year’s unplanned deterioration in the Trust’s financial position. 

As Chief Operating Officer you will play a vital role in delivering our performance and finance recovery plan. Through your leadership of our four clinical Divisions’ senior teams, you will ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, high quality efficient services through our expert, committed and passionate workforce who strive on a daily basis to deliver our vision of Best Care For Everyone. You will not only ensure operational teams stay informed and engaged in the day-to-day business, you will also contribute to the wider life and culture of our Trust by encouraging front-line innovation and solutions and being an engaged and effective corporate board member.

This exciting role provides both challenges and opportunities either for an ambitious current executive director with the ability to take on the additional responsibility of Deputy Chief Executive, or for those wishing to consolidate their experience as Chief Operating Officer in a large, multi-site Trust. In either scenario you will have a proven track record of delivery, be someone who leads by example and who encourages solutions from the front-line. You will need to swiftly use your operational knowledge, proven experience and professional gravitas to gain traction, balancing incisive focus with big picture vision. Your ability to positively contribute to our financial recovery will be critical, as will be your leadership across the organisation and your impact over the longer term.
