In addition, there is a Core Management Team sitting with PHE consisting of a programme manager, deployment and operations manager and logistics manager.

The post holder will line manage the PHE-employed members of the UK-PHRST deployable team and may be asked to act as team leader if needed.

The successful candidate will be competent to develop, direct and collaborate on research projects as part of the UK-PHRST programme. S/he will also have experience of teaching and supervising students and trainees in interventional epidemiology and surveillance.

When not required for outbreaks, they will, among other duties, conduct operational research in ODA eligible countries and be based at some of the overseas centres in the well-established networks of collaborators of LSHTM, University of Oxford, King’s College London and PHE. They will also spend some time in the UK teaching, training and conducting operational research in support of the UK-PHRST programme objectives.

The candidate must be included on the GMC Specialist Register or UK Public Health Register.

The successful candidate will be appointed to the Consultant salary scale appropriate to their years of seniority or, if from a background other than medicine, to NHS Agenda for Change Band 8d.
