A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the executive team at Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We’re an organisation with vision, ambition and a proven track record of delivery; rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.
Formed from a merger in 2009, the Trust operates three acute hospitals in Chichester, Worthing and Shoreham, serving a population of more than 500,000 people in West Sussex.
From 1 April 2017, the Trust’s executive team has also been providing senior leadership and direction to Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. During a 3-year managed contract, we’ll be helping staff to improve the quality, safety and financial sustainability of services.
We are committed to continuous improvement and in 2017 will be ensuring that the Trust’s strategy is deployed so that work undertaken by staff is fully aligned to our strategic objectives. This organisation-wide transformation programme, Patient First, draws on the techniques and success of the lean management production system developed by Toyota and adapted for healthcare by the Virginia Mason Medical Center (USA).
We’re looking for an outstanding leader who will embrace the principles of Patient First and lean management while strengthening the operational contribution across the organisation.
Our Managing Director will contribute to the strategic thinking and decision-making processes of the Group and has accountability for the delivery of performance targets and service modernisation, development and clinical governance of the Trust.
This will require managing a well-led organisation through strong and inspirational leadership of our four clinical divisions:
Medicine – made up of acute, elderly and specialist medicine
Surgery – including theatres and anaesthetics, general surgery and trauma, orthopaedics and urology
Core – incorporating therapies, imaging, pathology, cancer services, decontamination, pharmacy, access and emergency planning
Women and Children - including obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics and sexual health
You’ll have a strong record of delivering quality and safety in healthcare and have extensive experience of working at board level and of managing highly complex and diverse NHS services with multi-agency stakeholders.
You will also be an inspiring and credible leader with the energy, drive and determination to successfully respond to the changing expectations and needs of the NHS, in line with our vision and values.
As a systems leader, you will also be committed to working with other health, social care and commissioning partners to enhance our reputation as acute provider of choice and to develop and implement our extensive transformation programme, which includes the move towards system integration.
An informal discussion prior to application is strongly encouraged and you are invited to talk to Denise Farmer, Chief Workforce and OD Officer on behalf of the Chief Executive, via Christine Brooker, PA 01243 788122 ext 32796 or. firstname.lastname@example.org
Closing date: Sunday 23rd July 2017.
Interview date: Wednesday 9th August 2017
