Acute Trust
Job Type

This is a great opportunity for an experienced operational leader to join an ambitious and busy teaching hospital; becoming part of a successful and highly motivated board team to deliver safe and high quality health services to the people of Bradford and our surrounding regions.

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has an income in the region of £400m, approximately 900 beds and around 5,700 staff. We are investing £75m to improve patient care across our hospitals and have already opened a new £28m wing at Bradford Royal Infirmary and completed a £2m refurbishment of our Emergency Department.

As teaching hospitals, we are at the forefront of research, education and development in healthcare. We are involved in numerous national and international clinical trials, have a state-of-the-art simulation centre to reproduce clinical scenarios for training purposes, and our exceptional people have received national recognition in 2017 for their innovative practice in frailty, neonatal care and our pioneering virtual wards as examples.

To help achieve our vision of being an outstanding provider of healthcare, research and training, and a great place to work we require a new Chief Operating Officer who can bring a strong delivery and improvement mind-set. We want an innovative and inspirational leader who can provide clarity of thought and purpose when the pressure to deliver is on. Above all we are looking for someone who can bring a values-based style of operational leadership that is engaging and collaborative.

While we would welcome applications from existing director-level candidates we also recognise that this might be a great opportunity for a highly capable individual to break-through into their first board post. We have a strong commitment to equality and diversity in our Trust. We therefore aim to employ a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve and strongly encourage applications from candidates who are currently under-represented at senior levels in our workforce.

For further information, please contact Wayne Colthirst or Robert Wright at the NHS Leadership Academy on 0113 322 5672. To apply, please click on apply button and share your CV and supporting statement. The closing date for applications is 9:00 am Monday 18th September 2017.
