- Job Type
Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides high quality, accessible and responsive community and specialist services within Birmingham and the West Midlands. We are currently working in partnership with Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Dudley and Walsall Partnership Mental Health Trust and are close to acquiring both to form an integrated provider of community and mental health services, with a turnover of £440 million. So, with integration expected in early October, we are poised to become an even more significant healthcare provider within the West Midlands and the third largest mental health provider in England.
High levels of clinical buy-in across all three organisations, along with the joint leadership across Birmingham Community Healthcare and Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trusts, have ensured this merger-by-acquisition paves the way for significant benefits to be realised for patients, families and carers. We have been working closely together in partnership for more than 18 months, with the intention to undertake this transaction announced in June.
The new Chief Executive will lead the process to form one cohesive organisation that will provide sustained clinical, commercial and support services benefits and, in doing so, increase our ability to deliver the effective, safe and high quality services expected by our patients and their families and carers. Leading the combined organisation as it navigates the cultural, structural and operational challenges post-merger is arguably one of the most stimulating and important leadership tasks of today’s NHS. So the chance to join us now, just as we embark on this challenging journey, is a unique opportunity.
The role will demand exceptional leadership qualities in order to inspire and motivate staff in a period of change, and also to generate confidence externally as the new organisation meets the expectations of its commissioners, partners and communities. With prior experience as a chief executive or similar, you will be an accomplished communicator and a values-driven leader. Your ability to articulate and then deliver on a vision will be a key skill.
