The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of acute hospital services for nearly 500,000 people across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and mid Wales, encompassing some of the most picturesque parts of England and Wales. With two main medium sized district general hospitals, the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury, the Trust offers a wide range of acute and community employing almost 6,000 staff.

The Trust have embarked on a large scale improvement journey, reflected in the recent CQC inspection, with a clear vision and strategy of working together to provide the safest and best possible care for every patient, through respect and the highest standards of excellence and professionalism. A key component of the strategy is the reconfiguration of hospital services which, through its exciting partnerships with the Keele University School of Medicine and with the Virginia Mason Institute, will ensure sustainability and present the Trust with a breadth of opportunities and the determination to deliver great care to the local communities.

We are now looking for an exceptional leader who will have the courage, drive and ambition to support our organisation to move forward. With a particular appetite for delivering operational efficiency and influencing innovative transformational change, the successful candidate must be motivated to lead and inspire the workforce, and use the positive changes at the Trust as a platform for ensuring the delivery of the highest levels of quality and patient safety.

Possessing a close eye for detail and demonstrating a deep understanding of performance targets, the appointee will possess excellent engagement skills at every level, offering a positive outlook in developing trust with staff, whilst demonstrating resilience and diplomacy skills in order to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Alongside a deep analytical and operational approach, the ideal individual will possess a strategic understanding, able to see the bigger picture, whilst fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Furthermore, they will be required to share in the values of the Trust itself as well as those of the NHS as a whole, demonstrating a commitment to working together to provide the safest, kindest and best possible care and experience for every patient and their families.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity in a highly ambitious and driven organisation.
