Finegreen are recruiting on behalf of one of the leading healthcare groups in the UK to specialise in complex and acute medical conditions.

My client is located in the heart of London’s esteemed medical district, the newly-refurbished Hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialities. Supported by world-class doctors from leading London teaching hospitals, the hospital has 129 beds, including a purpose-built intensive care unit, catering for Level 3 patients. The hospital consists of fully-equipped theatres include three laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery and a robotic surgery suite along with some of the most advanced radiological diagnostic facilities in the country.

Procedures covered at this hospital include orthopaedic, gynaecology, urology and general surgery which are conducted by consultants from leading London Hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide strategic and operational management to the theatre team ensuring that all staff deliver high quality specialist services for planned procedures;
  • To be a highly visible leader and role model to all staff within the teams;
  • Ensure there is an effective on call out of hours service;
  • Allocate staff appropriately, utilising the skill mix to its full potential;
  • Provide strategic and operational direction to build the departmental business; plan new services and introduce new technologies as required;
  • Provide a highly responsive service to consultant users;
  • Responsibility for managing the department within an agreed annual budget including working hours and units of service, maximizing revenue recapture and cost control;
  • Promote effective communication and co-operative working arrangements with other departments, in particular Endoscopy, Wards and Imaging Departments
  • Ensure the working environment is of a high standard, including levels of cleanliness, to maintain safety at all times;
  • Investigate incidents and complaints thoroughly, responding within the agreed time-frame;
  • To deputise for or represent the deputy CNO, CNO or COO when necessary;
  • Monitor levels of stock drugs and consumables and order appropriately;
  • Ensure that patient dignity and privacy is respected at all times;
  • Keep up to date with current best practice and introduce change;
  • To be responsible for recruitment and retention of staff and provide departmental Human Resource management, supported by the HR department.
The successful candidate:
  • Degree/Diploma in Nursing;
  • Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience working in an appropriate clinical setting, ideally as a Registered Practitioner;
  • A minimum of two years working in a managerial role;
  • Management qualification;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Teaching and Assessing and/or Mentorship qualification;
  • You will have excellent organisational and management skills with the ability to flexibly respond to the needs of the department and the hospital;
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to effect change and set, implement and evaluate standards of practice.
