Finegreen are recruiting for a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join their Surgical Ward at a flagship private hospital based in London.

The hospital comprises of a Level 3 Intensive Care Unit, walk in Urgent Care Centre, Endoscopy suite and several theatres.

This role is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week and you will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. The salary is competitive up to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will deputise for the Ward Sister, and consistently provide a high standard of nursing care;
  • To provide a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward Sister and to supervise junior members of staff;
  • Participates in all aspects of Surgical practice including the pre-operative and post-operative care of patients;
  • To support the Ward Sister in managing the ward resources ensuring that the nursing team delivers quality care that meets clinical governance and quality agenda;
  • To demonstrate a consistent, high standard of nursing care;
  • To act as a role model for all staff;
  • Ensure that standards of care are maintained and developed in line with the evolving clinical governance and risk management agenda;
  • Contribute to the clinical audit programme across the area of responsibility in line with the corporate audit calendar and develop local priorities for audit;
  • Contribute to the implementation of action plans in line with results and areas for improvement;
  • Keep updated in nursing practice and keep clinical skills updated accordingly.
The successful candidate:
  • RN Level 1;
  • Valid NMC Registration;
  • ENB998 or equivalent;
  • Experience in General Surgery and in an acute setting;
  • Work effectively with other team members; 
  • Evidence of professional development within scope of PREP and ongoing education;
  • A sound practical knowledge of current issues in nursing practice; 
  • Ability to assess individualised patient care and implement, monitor and evaluate;
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational and planning skills, including risk management;
  • Able to make judgements involving complex facts or situations which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options;
  • Able to communicate clearly with a range of people at differing levels across the hospital, deploying a range of techniques to do this effectively;
  • Knowledge of NMC Codes and guidelines and their implications for practice;
  • Knowledge of the Care Standards Act and Care Quality Commission Requirements.
