Finegreen are recruiting on behalf of a leading independent healthcare provider. This is an excellent opportunity for a Recovery Lead in to join their Theatres Department within a private hospital based in London.

This role is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week and you will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. The salary is competitive up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, check and prepare the appropriate surgical and recovery equipment, drugs and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures;
  • To ensure the safe care of the patient during their peri-operative phase of care; 
  • The ability to co-ordinate the use of the supplies and equipment during the operating list and during the immediate post-operative phase of care ensuring the equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner;
  • Conduct mandatory patient checks including informed consent, patient’s identity and operative site against the supporting documentation, prior to the start of the anaesthetic and prior to the start of the procedure;
  • Complete mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre wound closure;
  • Communicate appropriately with others involved in the care of the patient;
  • Complete all written documentation in a timely manner and to an acceptable level; 
  • Act as a role model and mentor to junior staff; 
  • Be aware of and comply with all infection prevention and control policies and ensure best practice is maintained to ensure low infection rates;
  • Establish and maintain effective communications within the department Work under the direct supervision of the Theatre Manager;
  • Participate in regular meetings of the Peri-operative Team; 
  • Participate in standards and quality improvement procedures;
  • Participate in clinical trials, audits and research under the supervision of the Theatre Manager ;
  • Contribute to the implementation of change management.
The Recovery Lead will be the clinical lead for the Recovery Department and competent to recover patients from complex surgery. The ideal candidate will be competent with PCA pumps, pain management and arterial lines. This role requires the Recovery Lead to participate in the Manager on call rota.

The successful candidate:
  • Must be a Registered Nurse/ODP with valid NMC/HCPC registration;
  • ENB 998 or equivalent;
  • Experience in Pain Management;
  • ALS;
  • ILS;
  • Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills across a range and varied patient case mix and competent across a range of skills; 
  • Minimum 5 years theatre experience in Recovery.
