Chief Finance Officer
Thurrock Clinical Commissioning Group is responsible for the commissioning and delivery of local health care services. Our vision is that the health and care experience of the people of Thurrock will be improved as a result of working together. We are a small but highly effective team (around 54 staff). We are passionate with a culture of openness and collaboration. All of us have the needs of patients at the heart of everything we do.
Thurrock CCG is operating in an exciting era of change. We are part of the Mid and South Essex Sustainability and Transformation Partnership and have a constituted Joint Committee that makes decisions on acute services, NHS 111 / Out of Hours services and patient transport for all five CCGs in the STP area. Through this period of transition we are the only CCG to achieve financial balance in every year of operation In Essex. This is a huge achievement given the reductions to funding and increasing needs of our growing population.
We have our own local transformation plans under ‘For Thurrock in Thurrock’ jointly with Thurrock Council. One of our strengths is our close working relationship with our Council partners, both through the Better Care Fund and more generally in commissioning joint health and social care schemes to support our population. We have advanced plans for new buildings that will support integrated provision and are supported by changes in the delivery of primary care locally.
We are now embarking on the process to appoint a Chief Finance Officer (CFO). The CFO will shape and lead our financial strategy, ensuring we provide the best quality and value of services to our population, whilst operating within robust financial systems. In addition to leading the CCG’s financial function, the CFO will work as part of the executive team in providing leadership both within our CCG and across the wider health and social care system. This will involve representing the CCG externally and playing an active and important role in shaping the future of our STP.
Our existing CFO has been with us since the CCG was in shadow form and has made an outstanding contribution to what we have achieved so-far. In identifying his successor we will be looking to appoint an outstanding individual who can demonstrate excellent financial acumen, leadership experience and an in-depth understanding of the health system in this county. As a suitable candidate you will have experience operating at board-level, either as an executive or deputy director.
