We are currently receiving support from NHS Improvement around our long term financial sustainability and are making tangible progress in establishing a more robust financial footing to prepare us for the future. We are also facing significant pressures around access to our services and, particularly, in delivering the national four hour emergency department performance target.
It is essential for us to be able to give confidence to our patients, communities, partners and regulators that we can rise to these challenges through ongoing transformation and sustainable improvement. Vital to being able to succeed is having the right leadership at the head of the organisation and this is why the appointment of our new Chair will be critical to the Trust.
As Chair, you will have responsibility for driving the Trust’s progress forward, leading and working closely with our Board of Directors, Council of Governors and key external partners. You will be a highly experienced and well-rounded individual who has extensive Board level experience and strong strategic capabilities, with first class communication and engagement skills who is comfortable in a highly visible and publicly accessible role. You will have a the ability to influence, motivate, persuade as well as hold to account to ensure that the Trust delivers on all of its corporate and statutory responsibilities.
Perhaps above all you will bring impeccable personal values, a desire for cooperation and partnerships and a commitment to public service excellence, patient safety, dignity and transparency in all that we do.
We recognise that our journey has remained challenging and complex, however, we are confident that with the right leadership and commitment from our staff and partners, that we are capable of continuing a journey towards being a high performing University Hospitals trust that delivers our vision of ‘great healthcare from great people’.
