Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) is one of the largest acute trusts in the country with an excellent reputation for the quality of its patient care and its research and education.  This is an exciting time for the Trust as we have a new Chair, Eric Morton and Tracy Taylor has just joined as our new Chief Executive.  Our role in the health and social care economy is evolving to meet increasing demands and to effect successful system change that will improve care for our patients. 

Due to the retirement of the current job holder we are looking to recruit a Director of Corporate Governance who will lead the private office, secretariat and correspondence support to the Chair, Board and Chief Executive.  As Director of Corporate Governance you will have trust-wide accountability for to ensure that we comply with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements as well as undertaking the Trust Secretary role.  As the ‘conscience of the Trust’ you will bring independent judgement and have responsibility and seniority that is equivalent to the other directors attending the Board. You will lead a function that focuses on proper and efficient running of the Board and supporting committee structures, has oversight of board assurance and senior risks, as well as leading the team that deal with all claims against the Trust, working in partnership with external advisors as required.

We are seeking an experienced leader who has operated in complex, regulated environments to deliver robust corporate governance and assurance frameworks.  With excellent communication and organisational skills and great attention to detail you will bring a positive influence at a critical time in our development.  Demonstrating strong political acumen you will have the ability to quickly establish credibility with other senior leaders and build productive relationships internally and externally.
