Lancaster University Management School is seeking to make an outstanding appointment to the new position of Chair in Healthcare Management.  This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to play a pivotal role in the development of the Centre for Research in Sustainable Healthcare.  

The Centre for Research in Sustainable Healthcare capitalises on the healthcare oriented research undertaken in Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) and the Faculty of Health and Medicine, and the engagement with healthcare organisations, including businesses, through Lancaster University’s Health Innovation Campus (HIC). The Centre exploits the intellectual base of LUMS to address the challenges confronting governments and healthcare providers in delivering care which reflects the needs and demands of contemporary societies. The focus on the Centre’s ambition is on supporting the transformation of healthcare systems, processes and organisations to deliver sustainable healthcare

Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) is triple-accredited and ranked first in the UK for research power, with a world-class research environment and strong links to practice.  It has grown substantially in recent years and is benefitting from a £50 million investment in its infrastructure.  The School comprises seven academic Departments, combining general and specialist undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, and has a large doctoral programme.  It delivers innovative customised executive and leadership education for large organisations around the world, in addition to bespoke services for small and medium-sized enterprises in England’s North West and beyond.  The School is one of four Faculties within Lancaster University, which was recently ranked sixth amongst universities in the UK.

The Health Innovation Campus (HIC) is a pioneering new project that will bring together innovators, academics, entrepreneurs, businesses, local government, citizens and health care providers.  The aim of the development, based beside the University's Bailrigg campus, is to drive advances in technologies, products and ways of working to improve health and healthcare.  The vision is to create a world-class centre of excellence for innovation and research in population health.

You will be able to address both academic and practitioner audiences in order to ensure the success of this role.  You will work to frame the strategy and objectives of the Centre for Research in Sustainable Healthcare, positioning the Centre as a leading source of accessible interdisciplinary expertise around the challenges facing healthcare policy makers and managers.  You will be responsible for the development of the research agenda for the Centre, working in collaboration with academic colleagues and key external stakeholders and forging close connections with healthcare professionals, managers and policy makers to support the development of solutions to contemporary healthcare challenges.
