At Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust we provide a range of core and specialist mental health services across Norfolk and Suffolk in one of the largest mental health trusts in England. Improving mental health services is now firmly on the national NHS agenda and appointing the right Chief Executive to lead our Trust on its fast-paced and challenging improvement journey is vital to our success and to our delivering excellent services.

We are proud to be rated by the CQC as ‘Good’ and even ‘Outstanding’ in some of our services and to have staff who are rated as ‘Caring’ throughout. But we are ambitious to achieve these high standards across the whole of our Trust, and to achieve the necessary quality and leadership improvements to ensure our organisation moves out of special measures.

At NSFT we are already working hard to meet this challenge; to further ensure our success we need a Chief Executive with the experience, resilience and proven expertise to continue to inspire and motivate our staff to make positive changes at pace, while laying the firm foundations upon which to build our continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will be service-user and carer focused, fully committed to our Recovery model, and be ready to develop a vision that relentlessly focuses upon the mental health needs of our communities and local people.

This role calls for a transformational and politically astute leader – someone with a demonstrable commitment to whole-system working, a track record of delivering change and the capacity to not just manage, but to lead from the front in a highly complex and fast-changing environment.

Used to operating at the most senior level and to influencing and supporting key decision makers across the health and social care economy, the ideal candidate will have experience of working collaboratively to deliver short-term plans and long-term strategies and of developing and inspiring teams to deliver a shared vision.
