Secure the future success of Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) is a very special place.

The new hospital opened in July 2009 and is one of the largest purpose built Children’s Hospitals in Europe. We provide paediatric tertiary services for the children of North West Region and have close links with Manchester University. Tertiary neonatal care and neonatal surgery are provided at the adjoining St Mary’s Hospital. We pride ourselves on offering an exceptional quality of care to our 220,000 patient visitors each year.

We are a centre of excellence for many regional paediatric specialty services, and have strong links with the Regional Clinical Genetics department that is located within the adjoining St Mary’s Hospital. We provide a full surgical service, a busy Emergency Department and a regional burns unit, plus a comprehensive out-patient facilities and full laboratory and radiological support with an MR scanner and CT scanners, and the Willink laboratory for Metabolic Genetics is on site.

This is a new role providing clinical leadership and expertise to the newly formed hospital leadership team at RMCH. You will develop the full potential of our medical workforce, working in collaboration with everyone from our staff to our partners and patients to drive results and inspire excellence. Championing high-quality care, research, innovation and training, and with a commitment to the best outcomes for patients, you will ensure that developing services are evolving in line with the changing needs of all our patients, both now and in the future. Not only that, but as a member of the Group Management Board and various committees, you will build valuable relationships to enhance our professional reputation, and ensure that new models of care are clinically safe, sustainable, and are based on best practice. You will also be accountable for the efficiency and cost effectiveness of medical resources across RMCH, ensuring we are making the most of the considerable facilities and skills available. 

To make the most of this varied and fast-paced role, you’ll need to be a qualified Doctor or Dentist with full GMC or GDC registration with a particular interest in paediatric care. With significant senior clinical leadership experience ideally gained in a large acute, specialist or teaching hospital, you’ll be excited about the prospect of working directly with our medical teams to inspire results. With a proven ability to engage colleagues and deliver consistently on clinical effectiveness and patient safety you can demonstrate a strong track record of leading service improvement and excellence. Above all, you will offer outstanding interpersonal skills, an innovative and creative approach that inspires and delivers exceptional results, matched by your focus on commitment to collaborative working.
