The future NHS Supply Chain: The Intelligent Client Coordinator (ICC)
The new managing office of the future NHS Supply Chain, the Intelligent Client Coordinator (ICC), is designed to manage a world-class procurement and logistics service to purchase and deliver c£4.5bn of products per annum to the NHS.
The ICC will be responsible for delivering improved quality, services and value for the NHS driving the best possible deals for clinically assured products to achieve annual savings of c£615m from 2022/23 onwards. This will be achieved by reducing product and pricing variation and ensuring that the NHS needs and objectives are at the forefront of the new supply chain model.
The ICC is a public sector organisation with a commercial mindset. It shares the aims and values of the NHS and supports these by generating savings that can be redirected into front-line services and care.
Summary of the Director of Clinical and Product Assurance Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive as a member of our Board, the new Director of Clinical and Product Assurance will deliver the leadership required to make effective and efficient use of function resources in delivering the Clinical and Product Assurance goals.
The Clinical and Product Assurance Function will ensure that Category Tower Service Providers have appropriate processes in place to supply to the NHS, and products which are of high quality, deliver value and are appropriate to meet the needs of patient care. The Clinical and Product Assurance team will seek feedback from frontline clinicians, patients, professional bodies and other key national stakeholders to understand product range and work with colleagues across supply chain and customer engagement to respond to their needs.
The Director of Clinical and Product Assurance will need to have exceptional leadership, coaching, stakeholder management and influencing skills to deliver the ambition of the ICC. They will have the skillset and experience to lead an effective Clinical and Product Assurance team and work with the Senior Leadership Team to agree standards and policy for Clinical and Product Assurance and clinical input into the ICC/ Category Tower service providers. The Director of Clinical and Product Assurance will drive and champion patient-centred initiatives, lead business continuity and resilience management.
The role is either London or Nottingham based and will require frequent travel to both sites.
Headcount reporting to this role: 14 in total (4 direct and 10 indirect).
