Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) has an excellent reputation for the quality of our patient care and for our research, education and innovation. This is an exciting time for us with a recently refreshed leadership team in place and our new 10-year strategy developed and launched last year.  As a first wave Integrated Care System, our role in the wider health and social care economy is evolving as we seek to work with partners to meet increasing demands and to effect successful system change.   We are an ambitious organisation striving to think differently about how we integrate services in order to deliver safe, high quality and effective care that is sustainable for the future health and wellbeing of our populations.

We are, by any measure, a large and complex organisation.  Based on three sites with 90 wards and 1,700 beds we have an annual income of just under £1 billion.  With around 16,000 employees we are also one of the region’s largest employers.  Our vision is “to be outstanding in health outcomes and patient and staff experience”.  We are a successful and progressive organisation although, along with our partners, we continue to face a demanding operating environment with pressure on both our workforce and our financial resources.

Following the promotion of our Chief Operating Officer to a Chief Executive position in another Trust we are seeking a new Executive Director to join “Team NUH” in this pivotal Board position.  We are seeking an experienced operational leader with a strong track record of delivering and developing of a complex range of acute healthcare services at scale.  You will be a courageous and authentic leader who will quickly develop trust at all levels of the organisation including with our high performing clinical teams.  You will be experienced in working across organisational boundaries and engage with credibility with our wide range of stakeholders.  Most of all you will be motivated by our values and energised by the opportunity to join an ambitious team who are committed to shaping high quality health and care services for the future.

For an informal discussion, contact Michelle Shirley, John Wilson or Emma Pickup of GatenbySanderson on 0113 205 6289 or click on the apply button for more information.

Final assessment and interview panel: Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 March
