The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is building a new future for the provision of acute medical care for the half million people of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid-Wales.

We currently have an opportunity for a proven leader to be selected to join us in our forward journey of transformational change; leading on the delivery of continuous improvements, creating and embedding strategy and cultural transformation; a role pivotal to future health care services for Shropshire and Mid-Wales in planned/elective care spanning surgery, oral and maxillofacial, orthopaedics, head and neck and Cancer services.

The Trust

A CHKS Top40 Hospital, we are driven by delivering excellent care and clinical outcomes. Our success so far is due to our open, caring and values-driven organisation and we continue to intensify our success, to modernise and transform our organisation through active participation and commitment of our staff and strong engagement with stakeholders.

It is an exciting time to join our Trust as we have recently secured £312 million to undergo a period of major reconfiguration which will bring countless benefits to staff and patients.  This will include modern facilities, new equipment, and increased capacity.

It is also a particularly good time to join the Trust as we are currently working in collaboration with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle.  We were one of the first UK trusts to receive this support from one of the safest hospitals in the world and we are 3 years into a 5-year journey.  As a senior health care professional, you will have the chance to work directly alongside the representatives from the VMI within our hospitals.

The Role and Department

The Assistant Chief Operating Officer for Scheduled Care will lead one of 4 Operational Care groups, and be a member of the Trust senior leadership team.  You will be an experienced operational manager with a demonstrable ability to engage, motivate and lead multi-disciplinary teams looking to take the next step in your career.  You will be a core member of the Care Group senior management team and will possess strong inter-personal skills, the ability to think creatively and lead by example.

You will be working with a technically skilled and highly professional workforce to lead the delivery of excellent performance and great patient care whilst supporting innovative practice and change in all aspects of operations.

Shropshire

We are ideally located between the north and the south, making travelling around the UK extremely easy. As well as being only a short distance from major cities and busy transport links including Birmingham airport, our county also borders with beautiful mid-Wales which is abundant in outdoor activities, brilliant beaches, and thrilling scenery.
