Derbyshire’s Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP), Joined Up Care Derbyshire, has been developed by NHS organisations and local councils to coordinate the future health and social care services in the county to better support people in staying well and leading happier, healthier lives.

Services across Derbyshire will focus on looking after people in their home or local area, so they get the targeted care they need to get better more quickly, instead of concentrating on providing services from specific buildings.  Joining up care is also about preventing people from getting ill by helping them take good care of themselves and be able to deal with issues before they become bigger problems.

We are now seeking an Independent Chair to support and enable our next phase of development together as an integrated care system and to meet the requirements of the NHS Long Term Plan.

This role requires a leader who can support the development and delivery of the STP, overseeing how we address outcomes gaps for our population and develop system leadership.

They will chair collaborative reference groups including the STP Board as required, providing a forum for system leaders, partner Boards/Governing Bodies and councils across Derbyshire working effectively together to support the development and implementation of new models of care across the heath and care economy to underpin the delivery of the ICS over the next few years whilst providing a sounding board for the STP Director and wider leadership.

A key role will be holding respective partner organisations to account in their commitment to deliver the plan across all Providers, CCG’s, Health and Wellbeing Boards and other Key Stakeholders. The role will assist in enabling system players to continue to plan, develop, lead and deliver new models of care and the system change required to meet current and future needs within Derbyshire.

The Chair will engage, influence and constructively challenge stakeholders within the local system in the provision of effective leadership to ensure the necessary decisions are made to ensure progress of the agreed STP objectives.

This role requires prior experience working in a collective decision-making group and knowledge of new models of care.  The Chair must be able to hold system leaders to account for acting in accordance with the governance framework and the Memorandum of understanding. This will involve ensuring savings, activity and quality improvement trajectories set out in the STP plan are met and the values and behaviours are upheld.

As such, highly developed skills in engaging, influencing and offering constructive challenge and scrutiny of proposals drawing from extensive personal system leadership experience in the NHS is a must.

Proposed Interview date: week commencing Monday 3rd June
