We operate from two main sites, Arrowe Park Hospital and Clatterbridge Hospital, while also providing a range of services in community sites.  We employ over 6,000 staff who serve a population of approximately 400,000 people across Wirral, Ellesmere Port, Neston, North Wales and the wider North-West area. We have approximately 855 beds trust-wide with a financial turnover of approximately £337m.

This is a rare opportunity has arisen for a talented medical leader to work alongside our Executive Medical Director, as WUTH begins to shape a new and exciting vision for the organisation.  This is not a standard medical leadership role and we are not seeking a standard medical leader.

The successful candidate will provide direction, advice and leadership to further enhance relationships amongst our clinicians and working alongside the Executive Medical Director to shape our future in creating a strong culture of compassionate care for our patients and our staff. 

We are seeking to appoint a values-driven, dynamic, outstanding and versatile Deputy Medical Director, who can handle risk and ambiguity comfortably and bring intellect and insight to leading complex services within the context of a wider health and social care economy.  Providing clear structures of accountability which empower our capable staff to innovate and drive sustainable change, this role will require an exceptional communicator who will be politically astute and quickly able to develop strong relationships internally and with a wide range of external stakeholders.  Few roles will offer you such an opportunity to make a difference.

We are interested in hearing from experienced clinical leaders who share our values and ambition, whose track record will demonstrate success in leading and managing complex services and teams in an acute hospital setting.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to enjoy the variety of clinical practice that comes from working in a busy acute hospital, whilst developing their own special interest both clinically and non-clinically.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate would divide their time between medical leadership and clinical delivery within their specialism.
