We are supporting a high-profile NHS Hospital Trust in their search to appoint an Interim Operations Manager for Specialist Medicine. The successful candidate will be able to start quickly, hit the ground running and will have a credible track record of operational management experience within the NHS.
This role will be for based in the South East of the UK and will be for up to 6 months in the first instance. The rate will be remunerated under the NHSI Agency Caps at up to Band 8c.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure efficient day to day processes in place to support lean operational management across Specialist Medicine services;
  • To lead service redesign and drive innovation and best practice across both the services
  • To manage and develop a changing service in liaison with clinicians, managers and staff.
  • Develop services in accordance with national targets, CCG commissioning and Trust strategy.
  • Facilitate the planning process for the services covering activity, capacity, manpower and finance, support service developments and prepare business cases, position papers, projections and other reports as required.
  • Work with Lead Clinicians and Specialty Teams in the monitoring and achievement of national and locally agreed standards, including Cancer waiting times, TWR, Choose and Book and 18 weeks.
Key Skills and Experience:
  • A proven track record of operational/service management experience in the NHS and substantial operational knowledge of service delivery.
  • Experience of managing staff, developing new roles and achieving workforce change
  • Ability to engage the clinical team in operational issues, influence practice and deliver effective change management
  • Ability to manage and mitigate operational constraints to meet national and local targets.
  • Experience of identifying, analysing, implementing and delivering cost improvement schemes to achieve effective use of all resources
  • Knowledge and use of national best practice performance measures for operational activity to influence change and achieve upper quartile performance
