Director takes chief executive job at trust

Neil Macdonald, the current chief operating officer, will take on the role later this month.

Current chief executive Neil Dardis has been appointed as the new boss of Frimley Health FT.

Mr Macdonald first joined the Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust in 2005. After roles at the Healthcare Commission, Imperial College Healthcare Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ FT, he returned to the organisation in 2013 as deputy chief operating officer. He was promoted to chief operating officer in April 2015.

Trust chair Hattie Llewelyn-Davies said: “Neil is well known to all of us at the trust, having first joined in the early days of his NHS career and, most recently, as chief operating officer. It has been wonderful to see talent like his nurtured and developed within the organization. I am confident that under Neil’s leadership the trust will continue to move forward and deliver against our strategy of becoming one of the safest healthcare systems in the country.”

Mr Dardis announced his departure from the trust in November after two and a half years at the helm. He is taking over at Frimley Health from Sir Andrew Morris, the longest serving chief executive in the NHS.

Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust has started the recruitment process to find a permanent chief executive.
