NHSE makes three senior hires
NHS England has hired three new senior directors to its estates and facilities team.
Kay Mulcahy has been announced as the new associate director for national estate operations for hard and soft facilities management.
Ms Mulcahy joins the national team from Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, where she has spent more than two decades, including most recently as director of estates and facilities. She has also been the national chair for the professional body Health Estates and Facilities Management Association since 2022.
She will be responsible for the operational effectiveness of hard and soft FM – including productivity, digital transformation and workforce – in her new NHS England role.
Meanwhile, Simon Picking has been announced as the new head of hard FM. He will be joining from the Northern Care Alliance FT, where he is general manager for estates and facilities and group technical lead.
Mr Picking will be accountable for safety legislation and technical guidance in his new role, which will report to Ms Mulcahy. Both will start on 1 April.
Vajid Mahmood has been hired as the associate director of national estate assurance from within NHSE. He previously led technical NHS estates functions in the Department of Health and Social Care for 17 years.
