Trust appoints former COO as CEO
A mental health trust has appointed a new chief executive.
Mark Powell will join Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust in April.
Mr Powell, who is currently managing director and deputy chief executive at Leicestershire Partnership Trust, is returning to the Derbyshire trust after two years at LPT. He was previously chief operating officer and, before that, director of strategic development.
He has worked across acute, community and mental health commissioning as well as in public health roles.
Mr Powell replaces Ifti Majid, who left the trust in November after seven years to join Nottinghamshire Healthcare FT as its CEO.
Of his appointment, Mr Powell said he was pleased to be returning to the trust as it works to develop new mental health facilities across the county.
He added: “The trust was recently shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Trust of the Year’ award in the national HSJ Awards and I am looking forward to working with colleagues and partners as well as our patients and the public to continue this journey of improvement.”
Selina Ullah, Derbyshire Healthcare chair, said: “Mark has an excellent reputation for his leadership skills and I am confident that he will be a great fit for our organisation, leading our board of directors and building on the trust’s successes to date.”
