An interim joint chair has been hired by two trusts on a six-month contract, their third appointment to the role in under two years.

Peter Molyneux joined Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust, and Camden and Islington Foundation Trust this month, succeeding Pippa Aitken.

He will remain chair of Sussex Partnership FT during his tenure while a substantive replacement is being sought by the London trusts.

The appointment was confirmed in a report to the BEHMHT board meeting held this week.

Ms Aitken took up the position of BEHMT and CIFT chair in August. She succeeded Jackie Smith, who left to become chair of Queen Victoria Hospital FT in Sussex.

Ms Smith was appointed joint chair of BEHMHT and CIFT in April 2021 after Mark Lam left to join the Royal Free London FT.

Mr Molyneux was previously chair of South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust for seven years, from 2011 until 2018, and prior to that was chair of NHS Kensington and Chelsea primary care trust.
