Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust’s [BDCFT] vision is to work with diverse communities to provide outstanding care.  Our vision recognises that our service provision will be delivered within a wider contextual setting than the Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven localities we serve to maximise opportunities for service development and engagement in health and social care integration with our strategic partners within the local and regional health economy and through Sustainability and Transformational Plans [STP].

The Trust is a successful organisation, delivering award-winning mental health, learning disabilities and community health services to a growing population of 580,000 people across a diverse district comprising urban and rural Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.  The population is one of the most multicultural and vibrant in Britain with over 100 languages.  Some  localities are amongst the most deprived in the country reflected in higher than average demand for health services and reduced life expectancy

We are in a strong and positive position to face the challenges of increasing demand for high quality, safe services and the need to make year on year financial savings, and this continues to require new thinking, new relationships and innovative services.  During last year our skilled and committed staff delivered care and clinical expertise across 61 services from over 50 sites

We believe in ‘you and your care’, where care is designed around, and in partnership with individual service users. We aim to deliver ‘care close to home’ with our expert staff providing integrated community and mental health care in community settings, making sure that this complements primary care, hospital and social care through ‘joined up’ approaches.

To achieve this, our teams work closely with health, social care, volunteers and voluntary organisations and with diverse local communities. The Trust takes an active role in the development of local and regional Sustainability and Transformation Plans and has taken a lead in the development of the regional Mental Health Urgent and Emergency Care Vanguard. We are also active in building relationships with health and local authority commissioners, hospitals and family doctors. We believe that only by working together can we provide truly local services of high quality that people deserve and need.

The Trust was established as a specialist Care Trust in 2002 and achieved the rigorous challenge of becoming an NHS Foundation Trust in May 2015 creating the platform for the next stage of the Trust’s development. Our energies continue to be directed towards sustaining and developing our portfolio of high quality, safe mental and physical health services and on business development opportunities. As a Foundation Trust we have an enthusiastic, committed and diverse Council of Governors to represent almost 10,000 community members and 2,500 staff members, and who bring wide experience to the work of the Trust.

We are an ambitious Trust, particularly for the people we serve so this is an exciting and challenging time for the Trust in our drive to sustain and build excellent health care. Involving people in their own care, innovation and building enterprising partnerships will be the foundation of a truly successful future for our service users, for local communities and our staff.
