We are looking for a new CEO - an exceptional individual who can steer the organisation with energy and enthusiasm, building on our successes to date, rising to the challenges ahead of us and developing us to be the very best provider of high quality patient care we can be.

Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an ambitious Trust with a turnover of £365m and a large patient population. It provides a full range of acute in-patient, out-patient, day case and emergency services as well as some community based services.

The Trust has sought to stretch the bounds of possibility and chart new territory for district general hospitals. It aims to build on its strengths and reputation for specialised services and ensure that the Trust remains at the forefront of innovation, research and development and best practice as an associate Teaching Hospital and learning organisation.  

Quality and performance has steadily and consistently improved over the last three years and the April 2015 CQC inspection saw an improving Trust only a shade off good overall, with good in Well Led and Caring. While we have experienced some recent financial difficulty, the Trust is now in a much firmer position with a clear financial plan and achievable control total for 16/17 and an effective CIP PMO supporting the delivery of significant savings and efficiencies.

We are seeking someone who can act in a strategic manner and “hold his or her own” in the environment external to the Trust. Our new CEO will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of the complexity of relationships that lie behind how care is delivered, feel comfortable bringing influence to bear to the benefit of patients and working in a collaborative and partnering fashion.

Candidates must have substantial relevant experience of leading services in an acute organisation of comparable scale and complexity. While we would welcome applications from established chief executives; we also recognise that this may provide an opportunity for an exceptional executive director to step up into their first CEO role.

This post will require inspirational leadership, personal gravitas and well-honed and highly effective communication skills. But above all we expect to appoint a leader who can demonstrate commitment to our values – always putting patients first, treating everyone with the respect they deserve, commitment to quality and improving patient experience, a caring and compassionate attitude, taking responsibility for our actions but also taking pride in our work, valuing the diversity of our staff and rewarding ability and innovation.
