Chief Operating Officer
University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) serves around three million people across Staffordshire and North Wales and is one of the largest hospital Trusts in the country. With a turnover of around £700m, its 11,000 strong workforce provides the full range of emergency treatment, planned operations, specialist services and medical care from our two hospitals in Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent.
UHNM’s 2025 Vision sets out a clear aim to become one of the top university teaching hospitals in the UK by 2025, and establish a world-class reputation by 2030. Internally much progress has been made over the last 2 years with significant investment in services, research, facilities and organisational culture. Externally the Staffordshire-wide Sustainable Transformation Programme now provides us with a unique platform to work with key partners to develop radical and innovative proposals to develop health and care services for the future.
A key part of achieving our 2025 Vision will be the appointment of an exceptional Chief Operating Officer who can bring a strong delivery, operational grip and an improvement mind-set. We are looking for an innovative, inspirational, values-driven leader, committed to the delivery of high quality patient care and staff engagement, who can provide clarity of thought and purpose when the pressure to deliver is on.
As such, applicants will have had considerable operational leadership experience gained within a suitably complex and challenging acute setting, with a demonstrable track record of successfully driving operational excellence and efficiencies. Whilst this role requires a candidate who can command credibility at board level and with stakeholders, they must also be able to demonstrate an inspirational, collaborative and compassionate leadership style.
You will join an experienced team and work with us to deliver high quality, safe and sustainable operational performance and help shape the future direction of our Trust to the benefit of patients, carers and staff. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished Chief Operating Officer to join an ambitious organisation. Working with a committed and talented group of clinical and managerial colleagues, this role will play a key role in significantly impacting patient care and outcomes across UHNM and the wider health system.
