Acute Trust
Job Type

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust is a leading provider of acute, specialist, cancer and non-acute services to approximately 600,000 people across east and north Hertfordshire and parts of south Bedfordshire. We employ nearly 6000 staff based in four locations and have an annual turnover of around £410million.

We are a well led organisation with a strong culture and positive values, and our ambition is to be amongst the best in all that we do; including patient experience, clinical outcomes, patient safety and financial sustainability.

A key part of us achieving our ambitions will be the appointment of an exceptional Chief Operating Officer who can bring strong delivery, operational grip and an improvement mind-set. You will be an innovative, collaborative, values-driven leader with an abundance of drive, energy, commitment and resilience who can provide clarity of thought and purpose when the pressure to deliver is on.

This is a crucial position in us achieving our future objectives and we are looking for someone who will play an active role as part of a successful, highly motivated board, committed to the delivery of high quality, safe and sustainable patient care to our local population.

This role requires a candidate who can command credibility at board level, and whilst we would welcome applications from experienced board-level candidates we also recognise that this might be a great opportunity for an ambitious, capable, high-flying individual to break-through into their first board post.

As such, applicants will have had considerable operational leadership experience gained within a suitably complex and challenging acute setting, with a demonstrable track record of successfully driving operational excellence and efficiencies.  You will have outstanding communication skills in order to engage, lead and motivate a committed and talented workforce across a complex and demanding multisite organisation and the grit and gravitas to have an impact.

You will be joining an organisation with an excellent track record of nurturing and developing personal performance for continued career success.  This is a fantastic opportunity which will play a key role in shaping and delivering care across the Trust and the wider health system.
