Job Type

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is an exceptional organisation dedicated to offering world class services to children and young people for over 140 years. We provide a wide range of services including community and mental health as well as acute and specialist services with an annual income of over £180m and more than 3,000 talented staff members. We are working successfully with partners across Sheffield as part of the Place Based Partnership and in the wider South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System where we are leading and collaborating in several key workstreams and service areas.

Our longstanding Medical Director will retire towards the end of this year and at this exciting time in our development we are seeking a senior leader to join us in our mission to improve the health, wellbeing and life chances of the younger population. Reporting to our Chief Executive and providing professional leadership to our Doctors, Dentists, Psychologists and Pharmacists, this role will have responsibility for the quality and safety of all our services and will ensure that our Children and Young People are at the heart of our decisions.  As a core member of the Executive team this is a critical corporate role; working with Board colleagues to develop and implement strategy and upholding our strong vision and values.

We are keen to hear from existing or aspirant Medical Directors seeking a broad corporate leadership role in an ambitious Trust. Paediatric experience is not essential, we need a collaborative leader with significant corporate experience and excellent communication skills who is quickly able to build credibility with our highly motivated medical staff. You will engage and inspire our workforce in maintaining high professional standards as well as in the design and delivery of our clinical strategy.  Working with Board colleagues you will thrive in building trusted and productive relationships with our staff, patients and our partners; creating an environment for the delivery of transformational change within our Integrated Care System.
