Electro-Biomedical Engineering Officer
The Falkland Islands Government is looking for a new colleague to join its existing team of friendly and experienced Health Service professionals
Set in the South Atlantic Ocean, the Falkland Islands benefits from unique wildlife, low crime rates, the absence of traffic jams, a varied social calendar and the close proximity of South America and Antarctica as holiday destinations.
The Department of Health and Social Services provides both Primary and Acute Healthcare services to approx 3400 people from both the civilian and military populations on the Falkland Islands. These services are delivered from the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital which is based in Stanley the capital.
Salary: ££ Competitive (starting salaries will depend on qualifications and experience).
Other Benefits include: a 25% end of contract gratuity, a favourable tax regime, in addition to relocation and flight package and 41 days leave (inclusive of public holidays).
Contract Type: 2 year fixed term appointment initially with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement.
An experienced Electro-Biomedical Engineer, you will be responsible for the day to day management of EBME maintenance services – reporting to the Hospital Engineering Manager (HEM) – the duties of which will involve planned and remedial maintenance on the hospital’s critical medical life support equipment, radiology, laboratory and dental equipment. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring a resident EBME Officer (Trainee).
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Electro-Biomedical Engineering Officer with a strong track record of effectively Managing and Maintaining Hospital medical equipment and ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained to Manufacturer’s recommendations and work recorded. The role is not limited to usual EBME equipment, but also includes radiology, imaging, dental and laboratory equipment.
You will be qualified to at least HND level in a relevant subject ie Electrical / Electronic Engineering/Medical Physics and have at least 5 years’ post qualification experience in a senior Electro-Biomedical Engineer engineering role
