Finegreen are currently assisting a large NHS organisation in the appointment of a Legal Services Manager for a period of 3 months initially. 

Main Responsibilities:
  • Oversee an undertake a legal services function for the Trust and will undertake the investigation of Medico-Legal, Public Liability and Employers Liability claims against the Trust in accordance with Trust policies and the requirements of NHS Resolution; 
  • liaise with and provide legal advice to the Head of Legal Services, internal managers and staff and will liaise with HM Coroner and NHS Resolution as required;
  • Undertake and supervise the Legal Services records function, will liaise with the Trust’s external legal suppliers and will report to the Trust’s Head of Legal Services; 
  • Ensure the smooth organisation of complex multi-disciplinary inquests involving the Risk and Complaints Departments, Medical staff, Nursing staff, Directors and Communications staff;
  • Take a lead on all legal matters on behalf of the Trust and act as the main point of liaison for all legal issues;
  • Advising treating Consultants, Divisional/Clinical Directors, the Medical Director and Head of Legal Services of new claims;
  • Assess claims for approximate value, percentage of liability and subsequently for ensuring that all claims deemed ‘reportable’ under the CNST (Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts) Reporting guidelines are reported expeditiously to NHS Resolution with a full Preliminary Analysis assessing breach of duty, causation, quantum and any risk management lessons. 

A successful candidate will have:
  • Educated to Masters level in Law or equivalent Law related qualification, Practice Certificate; 
  • Significant experience of working within a legal team; 
  • Relevant experience of handling requests from HM Coroner, ability to communicate effectively with Directors, senior managers and clinicians across the Trust on a daily basis.
