Acute Trust
Job Type

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in an innovative group arrangement, working across two large acute trusts on the south coast.

Western Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is one of only five acute hospital trusts rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission and is providing leadership support to its neighbour, Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, in improving its performance and building a new organisational culture that can underpin longer-term achievement and success.

Both organisations are guided by the same ambition of always putting the patient first and are equally committed to empowering front line staff to identify and deliver positive change in all areas of their work.

This ‘Patient First’ approach to continuous improvement is positioning the two trusts as leading organisations in the development of hospital care and making them some of the most exciting and attractive places to work in the NHS.

We are now seeking a new Company Secretary who shares the same commitment to improvement and innovation and is committed to supporting the Board and Executive Team to provide the leadership each organisation needs. One of the key tasks for the successful candidate is to shape and establish our governance structures to ensure the smooth running of both organisations and ensure we meet the expectations of our regulators.

We are looking for a truly exceptional candidate who will ideally be qualified as a Company Secretary or Lawyer, with experience of working in the NHS or similar large/complex organisation. You’ll have the talent to influence colleagues across a range of professions within a highly creative, energetic and successful organisation, as well as a strong attention to detail and the ability to get things done

We welcome applications from all sections of society, including people from BAME backgrounds and those with disabilities.
