My client are an independent healthcare organisation who provide healthcare services across the UK. They have an interesting opportunity for an Interim Financial Controller for a period of 6 months.

The position is accountable for ensuring the accurate and timely operation of the Finance and Payroll department, including the internal financial reporting processes and delivery of financial information, together with the supervision of other members in the finance team to manage daily activities and the prioritising of work. We are ideally looking for someone who has worked at this level WITHIN healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

* To oversee the operations with the finance and payroll department
* To supervise and manage the finance team to ensure proper performance of their duties
* To provide timely information on relevant operational and ad-hoc requirements of the Finance Director
* The preparation of month end management accounts, weekly finance reports and other financial related reporting, including departmental and consolidated financial management accounts
* To collaborate closely with other key teams across the organisation to ensure financial compliance and control of Company resources
* To report any financial concerns to management to ensure efficient and compliant financial and operational procedures are adhered to
* To oversee and assist in the weekly payroll and undertake monthly payroll for its contracted staff
* Role requires regular use of People Planner operational software to obtain financial information for reports
* To supervise/oversee bank reconciliations, petty cash, sales/purchase ledger control accounts
* To reconcile and balance all balance sheet items on a monthly basis to supporting documentation
* To complete VAT quarterly returns
* To oversee all financial reporting and source data
* To supervise the finance team on a day to day basis ensuring that work is prioritised to meet deadlines. Co-ordinate workload for the team, ensure viable staff cover of the department and provide support and training as appropriate
* To monitor, maintain and report KPI's as necessary in order to evaluate the Company's performance
* To maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
* To undertake audit visits to branches to promote financial compliance
* To assist in preparing draft yearend financial accounts prior to audit
* To maintain and develop sound accounting systems
* To assess and evaluate the members of the finance team in their daily activities and identify/recommend training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements
