We are working with an NHS organisation in the South East in their search to appoint an Interim Operations Manager for Theatres, Anaesthetics Services. Experience managing these services within the NHS is key to a successful appointment. The successful appointee will be able to start ASAP and hit the ground running.

This role will be for 3 months in the first instance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide professional operational leadership for the division, where relevant managing non-medical staff and agreed service portfolios;
  • Responsible for ensuring that the service management team identify and focus on the service’s most critical delivery areas;
  • To support the planning, development, provision and review of, patient focussed and cost-effective integrated pathways and services;
  • To support & lead on the development and implementation QIPP based service improvements throughout the division’s portfolio, which supports achievement of the Trust’s corporate objectives;
  • To ensure that the division achieves its local and national performance targets thorough robust processes developed with the Divisional Service Managers;
  • To contribute to the achievement by the Trust of its corporate targets and objectives. 

Key Skills and Experience:

  • A proven track record of operational/service management experience in the NHS and substantial operational knowledge of service delivery;
  • Experience of managing staff, developing new roles and achieving workforce change;
  • Ability to engage the clinical team in operational issues, influence practice and deliver effective change management;
  • Ability to manage and mitigate operational constraints to meet national and local targets;
  • Experience of identifying, analysing, implementing and delivering cost improvement schemes to achieve effective use of all resources;
  • Knowledge and use of national best practice performance measures for operational activity to influence change and achieve upper quartile performance.
