Job Details

A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a senior Estates and Facilties specialist within their Capital Programme Team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop the existing in-house project team to make it more professional, capable and quality driven, thereby reducing the reliance on external consultants;
  • Provide, coordinate, develop and manage highly specific and complex Building and Property portfolio, with specialised input into multi-agency estate strategies site development and modernisation projects;
  • Have a senior level input into the capital and site development for long-term Estates strategies;
  • Manage and coordinate costs recovery for non-patient income;
  • Responsible for decisions and reach judgements involving complicated and highly complex facts or situations where expertise in a field is required;
  • Hold specialist knowledge and experience that will allow judgements to be made on situations which are highly uncommon and unforeseen;
  • Analyse and action situations, information and events where complicated issues are involved and solutions may not be obvious; 
  • Demonstrate reporting techniques and detailed analysis of mutual relating to financial flows and spend;
  • Responsible for design, construction, maintenance and commissioning of engineering and building services and equipment; knowledge of Commercial and Contract law related to the NHS; 
  • Communicate regularly with Estates staff, senior Trust staff, senior staff at outside agencies and other Trusts, Department of Health, NHS Estates, Local Authorities and other regulatory bodies.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Extensive, in-depth experience in a similar role at management level; ideally a Chartered Surveyor or Architect and a member of an appropriate professional institution;
  • Detailed, highly developed specialist knowledge of estate asset and property management and land and property valuation;
  • Knowledge of waste management, legionella, energy, environmental, decontamination issues and life-critical engineering services;
  • Expected to communicate complicated and conflicting information regarding technical, policy and service delivery issues;
