Based in the heart of the Black Country, The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is a main provider of acute and community services to the populations of Dudley, significant parts of the Sandwell borough and smaller, but growing, communities in South Staffordshire and Wyre Forest.  We employ around 4200 staff and have a turnover of around £350m.

The Trust serves a population of around 450,000 people from three hospital sites at Russells Hall Hospital, Guest Outpatient Centre in Dudley and Corbett Outpatient Centre in Stourbridge and provides the full range of secondary care services and some specialist services for the wider populations of the Black Country and West Midlands region. We also provide specialist adult community based care in patients’ homes and in more than 40 centres in the Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council community.

We are an organisation with a reputation for leading the way in innovation and quality improvement and are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Chief Nurse to join our team and work with us to shape the future direction of nursing.  We are looking for someone who can build on our achievements and help us develop our vision of driving service improvement, innovation and transformation.

The position requires an outstanding individual who can provide a clear vision and passion for delivering and enhancing exceptional patient care and experience, and the desire to provide professional leadership and develop our nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce. You will act as a role model with the ambition and leadership qualities to engage and inspire all our healthcare staff, ensuring continual commitment to the improvement of our high quality, safe services and the experience of all of our patients.

Joining at a pivotal time as we continue to develop and transform our services, you will be heavily involved in work internally, contributing to the strategic and corporate direction of the Trust as an integral and influential part of our supportive and ambitious executive team, as well playing an important role in the wider-system.

This challenging but exciting opportunity should be an attractive one for a high-performing, experienced acute nursing professional with a good track record of working in settings of appropriate scale and successful transformation of the delivery of clinical services. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the drive and commitment needed to bring about lasting and effective reform in how care is provided.

Whilst applications from candidates who are experienced directors are encouraged, we recognise that this may constitute an opportunity for an ambitious and skilled deputy director who is ready to step up into their first executive post.

The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 11th February 2019.

For a confidential discussion and to request the application pack for the role, please contact Moira Johnston or Lucy Renwick at the NHS Leadership Academy on 0113 322 5672.
