Job Details
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver and support the implementation of health and safety processes throughout the organisation as a mechanism for improving quality and safety in all aspects of operations;
- Support Divisions, Directorates and Departments in understanding and managing health and safety risks and their mitigation, and statutory health and Safety responsibilities;
- Support dissemination of learning from Health and Safety experience;
- Be one of the organisations ‘competent persons’ with regards to health and safety at work, providing an advisory service to all levels of staff within the organisation on all matters of health and safety legislation and practice, assisting in the development of effective arrangements for identification and control of exposure to risk;
- Provide advice and support to managers on all Health & Safety issues;
- Work closely with managers to ensure that Health & Safety issues are effectively managed, and to promote Health and Safety as an integral part of good management practice;
- Participate in relevant Trust meetings and Committees, providing advice as appropriate and leading or supporting any initiatives resulting from the work of the Committee;
- Support the SMT in implementing a robust Trust Health & Safety Strategy that underpins the organisations Governance arrangements and meets external HSE requirements;
- Promote the development and implementation of the risk assessment process across the Trust, in line with the Trust’s Risk Management Strategy and Risk Assessment procedures, and the inclusion of risk assessments in the Trust’s Risk Register;
- Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent;
- Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health;
- Have an extensive and up to date knowledge and be able to promote best practice of health and safety;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
- Experience of working within a healthcare organisation, holding responsibility for Health and Safety.
