Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated Chief Operating Officer (COO) to maintain consistently high standards of performance and patient care to support the Trust's journey to become outstanding in all it does.

As a high performing NHS provider and a leading partner in health and social care across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, DBTH provides health services to a population of almost half a million people from three main hospital sites and a number of additional services. The Trust is one of only five Teaching Hospitals in Yorkshire, and trains 25% of all medical students in the area, in addition to 30% of all other health professionals.  Team DBTH, is made up of over 6,600 members of staff - making the Trust the largest employer in both Doncaster and Worksop.

For the last few years DBTH has been undertaking an improvement journey, with an initial emphasis on financial sustainability, maintaining high quality services and an ever-present focus upon delivering the best patient care and treatment. This is also an incredibly exciting time for DBTH, with significant opportunities to take for innovations, an increased scope to foster creative-thinking amongst teams and an expansion of the Trust’s approach to Quality Improvement (Qi).

The Chief Operating Officer will work closely with the Chief Executive, and talented colleagues within the Executive Team, as well as an engaged, passionate and visible Board of Directors.  As a senior member of the team, the successful candidate should have ability to build credibility, inspire confidence and demonstrably influence staff at all levels from ward to Board. The post-holder will also be able to contribute to the Quality Improvement Programme which is being championed and embedded across DBTH.

Ultimately, the COO will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of the Trust’s operational services, ensuring high quality care and delivery of performance standards are achieved throughout DBTH’s four Divisions.

If you have the ambition, drive and vision to undertake this role, you will find everything you need to know about the Trust and the position in the job description and specifications, links which can be found on this page.

This is an incredibly exciting time for DBTH - join us and help us to become one of the best NHS providers in England.
