The RNOH is a national centre of excellence with an international reputation for diagnosis, assessment and treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. This ranges from the most acute spinal cord injury, bone tumour and complex joint reconstruction to orthopaedic and specialist rehabilitation. This broad range of neuro-musculoskeletal services is unique within the NHS. It offers an integrated range of clinical, teaching and research services unique within the UK and in partnership with University College London. 

An exciting opportunity is available for a dynamic, experienced Allied Health leader to join our RNOH Senior Leadership Team and to represent the Allied Health professions at the Trust Board. The successful post holder will provide professional leadership to Therapies, Radiography and Clinical Psychology with Board level representation and operational leadership of the Therapies Directorate. 

Sitting within the Medicine and Therapies Division (one of 6 clinical divisions within the Trust) the Therapies Directorate includes approximately 150 WTE staff across 7 different Allied Health professions. Therapies play a key role in all clinical care pathways at the RNOH and are recognised for the vital input they provide to the organisation. In addition to the delivery of high quality post-operative and rehabilitation care the Therapies Directorate is developing a strong research and development and academic agenda, including collaborations with internal and external partners. 

The Director of Allied Health will be responsible for providing the strategic, clinical and operational leadership to the Therapies Directorate with particular responsibility for the development and delivery of its clinical services to support the successful delivery of both the Directorate and Trust’s strategic priorities. The post holder will be directly responsible for the clinical quality and governance, risk management, human resource and financial management of the Therapies Directorate. They will have responsibility for ensuring that high quality Therapy services are provided efficiently, safely and within budgeted costs, in accordance with the needs of service users. The successful candidate will be accountable for setting the strategic direction of the Directorate including the enhancement of its external reputation and networks and partnerships. 

In addition to the role as Director of Allied Health the post holder will play a vital role as a key member of the Divisional Leadership Triumvirate for the Medicine and Therapies Division. They will contribute to Division and Trust wide service improvement projects and support the strategic priority setting and operational management of the Trust as a member of the RNOH Senior Leadership Team and Trust Board.
