Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) is a large and complex organisation providing mental health care for people across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire, delivered by passionate, caring and committed staff.

Our vision is to provide the best possible care that helps people recover and live their best lives, underpinned by three key strategic principles:

• Being sustainable as an organisation.

We are now seeking a new Chief Executive, who will lead the Executive Team and work closely with the Board to achieve our aspiration to be an outstanding organisation.

While we have achieved much on our improvement journey, there is still more to do.  Our new Chief Executive will need to ensure we develop and embed a culture of quality improvement and staff and service user engagement to deliver safe, high quality services, implement changing clinical models and transform AWP into a high performing, sustainable organisation. At the same time as driving internal improvement, our Chief Executive will need to work closely with our partners across the health and care economy to help future-proof the delivery of mental health services across the South West.

With such an ambitious agenda, we clearly need an inspirational leader; someone who shares our values and is committed to listening to the voice of staff, service users and carers and who can motivate and empower people to embrace continuous improvement to deliver a high-quality service.

She/he will need to evidence excellent strategic capability, political acumen, a drive for results and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.  An ambitious individual focused on outcomes, our Chief Executive will be motivated by the scope to achieve transformational change for the benefit of the people we serve.  Beyond this, we will be looking for someone of substance and integrity: an authentic and ambitious leader who can demonstrate both resilience and emotional intelligence.
