Job Details

A large NHS organisation is looking to appoint an Independent Clinical Reviewer who holds significant experience within Learning Disabilities Service Provision. 

Main Responsibilities:
  • The LD Commissioning team are seeking additional LD clinical capacity of a suitably experienced individual(s) to undertake specific pieces of work: Complete LeDeR reviews in line with national guidance; conduct and independent clinical evaluation of the NHS LD ATU inpatient provision within the local area;
  • You will work as part of a small team who have commissioning responsibilities for Learning Disabilities and Autism and are coordinating the delivery of the Transforming Care, LeDeR and STOMP programmes;
  • Review case notes to evaluate evidence and inform case reviews, that you can use as transferable skills to undertake mortality reviews. You will have a good knowledge of safeguarding and excellent data collection and documenting skills;
  • Responsible for undertaking and completing service reviews, collecting and evaluating evidence and reporting information in an accessible format to provide senior executives with relevant information;
  • Ability to engage in constructive discussion with providers of care to collate obtain salient information efficiently and effectively;
  • Conduct a multiagency review of a death if appropriate, involving collation of case documentation, holding a multiagency meeting at which potentially contributory factors leading to death are discussed, learning points, recommendations and action plan agree;
  • Map the current inpatient service provision including patient primary needs on admission, average length of stay, care needs during admission including interventions and assessments provided, medical oversight, use of positive practice strategies etc.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Hold an understanding of the TCP, LeDeR and STOMP agenda and the drivers for these initiatives, along with demonstrable understanding of the main issues surrounding providing care for people with a learning disability, autistic spectrum disorder or both;
  • Hold significant clinical experience with Learning Disabilities.
