Head of Human Resources

The Finegreen Group is working in partnership with an NHS Trust based in the Midlands that requires an experienced Head of Human Resources on an interim basis commencing in October. This role is at AfC band 8c level.

Reporting into the Deputy Director of Human Resources the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Workforce team ensuring that an excellent quality of service is provided to the organisation.

Key responsibilities will include;
  • Lead, develop and directly manage the HRBP Team to provide a high quality advisory service on all employee relations issues;
  • Enable managers to handle cases with confidence, knowledge and in line with good practice as outlined in Trust policies;
  • Provide expert advice and support to the team of Employee Relations and HRBPs Advisors and Assistants on the interpretation and application of Trust policies, employment legislation and national terms and conditions of service. Oversee the management of and, where appropriate, directly manage high risk / complex employee relations and employee relations cases;
  • Develop and make available a comprehensive range of guidelines and template letters for managers available via a range of mediums including intranet, apps and written guidance;
  • Maintain a rolling programme of renewal and development of workforce policies. Ensure ER policies are accessible, relevant and aligned with the Trust’s People Strategy;
  • In partnership with the Head of Medical Workforce, act as expert adviser in relation to MHPS cases;
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Leadership and Change lead initiatives to reduce the level of bullying and harassment reported within the organisation;
  • To deputise for the Deputy Director of Workforce & OD and attend delegated meetings as and when required.
Key experience required;
  • Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel & Development;
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent;
  • Experience of running an HR team in a large complex organisation;
  • Project / programme management experience an advantage;
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills;
  • Ideally you will have worked within a Healthcare / NHS environment on a previous occasion.
